Deacon Drayton Sturdivant, of Selma, passed away May 3, 2016, in Selma. Services are scheduled for Saturday, May 7 at 1 p.m. at New Shady Grove Barker with the Rev. Rufus Tolbert Jr. officiating.

Burial will follow in Sturdivant Family Cemetery in Selma with Randall Miller Funeral Service directing. He is survived by his spouse, Beatrice Sturdivant; son, Vincent (Melinda) Edwards; grandchildren, Vincent (Tanisha) Edwards and Christopher (Keiara) Edwards; two great-grandchildren, Lamere and Laylah Edwards; brothers, James (Doris) Pope Sr., Charles (Rose) Pope, Robert (Mary) Pope, William Harris and Thomas (Williamena) Lewis; sisters, Willie P. Pope, Doris L. Pope, Velma (Dale) Gee, Mary Ann (Levi) Tolbert, Barbara (James) Todd and Vera Fincher; sister-in-law, Robbie Sturdivant; and a host of nieces and nephews.
