Authorities have learned that the victim in a fiery two-car accident last week was transported later to a local hospital by private vehicle.

The victim, an unidentified 39-year-old Selma man, was seen by several witnesses crawling out of an overturned, burning SUV after colliding with a sedan. The man left the accident in a second vehicle.

The crash occurred on Highway 80 near Craig Field on Friday just after 4:40 p.m.

Reginal King with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said the victim was taken to a hospital by private vehicle. King didn’t know what kind of condition the man was in or the extent of his injuries.

King said from personal experience, it is not uncommon for a victim to be transported away from an accident for medical attention by a private vehicle.

The other driver, a woman in her mid to late 50s, was taken to Vaughan Regional Medical Center by ambulance for chest and arm pain, according to a witness.
