Youth roundup: baseball and softball games from April 19 and April 23

EDITOR’S NOTE: Here are more game recaps from games played as part of the Selma Recreation Department youth baseball and softball leagues. These recaps are provided by the recreation department and published as often as possible.

April 19

Neely Charter 19, Smitherman Bros. 0 (9-10)

Joshua Palmer and Quinderius Chambers hit home runs to lead Neely Charter to a 19-0 shutout over Smitherman Bros. Jason Rogers, Palmer, Chambers, Cameron Ford, Omarion Palmer and Terrence Hosea Jr. scored twice. Jaylyn Brown, KeAundre Sharpe, Jamier Edwards, Roosevelt Sanders, Sharod Martin, Jaydin Hardy and Jamarrion Acoff all scored once.

 

KFC 5, Wood Orthodontics 4 (9-10)

A three-run first inning pushed KFC past Wood Orthodontics 5-4. Tyshawn McGuire, Jordan Lamar, Joshua Davis III and JaTavious McGraw scored for KFC. DeAndre Chestnuty, Milton Hand and Moss Jones scored for Wood Orthodontics.

 

Selma Crossfit 8, Cougar Chevron 7 (7-8)

Martin Wilkerson and Jake Sams scored two runs each for Selma Crossfit to lead their team to an 8-7 win over Cougar Chevron. Ja’Quavion Moreland, Tyrease Morrow, Matthew Baldwin and Trey’Von Effinger scored one run each for Selma Crossfit. Nicholas Thomas scored twice for Cougar Chevron, while Wood Jones, Randall Stoudenmire Tristan Simmons, Tayem Hammad and James Jones scored one run apiece for Cougar Chevron.

 

Henry Brick 10, Robinson Legal 0 (7-8)

Henry Brick shut out Robinson Legal 10-0, as eight players scored for Henry Brick. Calvin Drake III, Caden Tellier, Kenyan Brewster, Amadrion Smith, Aidan Barnes, Corban Buster, Camron Benjamin and Jordan Glover all crossed home plate for Henry Brick.

 

April 23

Wood Orthodontics 18, Smitherman Bros. 3 (9-10)

A seven-run second inning propelled Wood Orthodontics to an 18-3 win over Smitherman Bros. Tommy Tisdale, Moss Jones and DeAndre Chestnut each scored three runs for Wood Orthodontics, while Christian McPhillips, Wiley King and Milton Hand scored two runs apiece. Timothy Coleman, Allen Johnson and Javion Guthridge each contributed a run to Wood Orthodontics’ 18-run total. For Smitherman Bros., R.J. Jones, Colton Baggerly and Amarii Rucker scored.
