The Morgan Academy Senators’ softball team saw its season come to an end Monday, April 18 in the first round of the class AAA, region 2 tournament. Morgan, a No. 3 seed, lost in a doubleheader to No. 2 seed Monroe Academy. The Senators lost the first game 7-6 and were blown out by 10-run mercy rule in the second game.

Despite the loss, Morgan head coach Kay Jones said she was happy with how Morgan finished the season.

“I was just real pleased with how we finished our season and just trying to finish strong and positive,” Jones said.

“Overall I was proud of everything we did.”

With many young players on her team, Jones knew the Senators would be challenged to win games this season.

Jones said she saw her team come a long way throughout the season, and it gives her hope that next season will be even better.

“Hopefully we’ll have a lot of them return and from where we started to where we finished, great accomplishment, great improvement.

“The future is very bright,” Jones said.
