The Morgan Academy Senators had the score tied with the Glenwood Gators in the third game of a best-of-three second round playoff series, but a five-run sixth inning eliminated Morgan from the playoffs.

Morgan lost to Alabama Independent School Association No. 1 Glenwood on the road Friday 7-2, ending the Senators’ season. After losing 11-1 in the first game Thursday, Morgan won 6-5 in the second game of a doubleheader to force a third game.

Ultimately, Morgan came up short, but head coach Jeremy Carter said he couldn’t be prouder of what his team accomplished this season.

“I told them, keep your heads up,” Carter said. “We’re still a young team. We’ve built something that hadn’t been built here in a long time. And we’ve got to stay the course. Work doesn’t start next week. It starts tomorrow.”

Carter played three pitchers throughout the final game. Sawyer Hopkins started, Jackson Henderson came in to relieve him and Bishop Price closed it out.

“We fought, we battled and I’m just proud of them. We never quit,” Carter said. “We’ve built a good program. We’re a scrappy bunch, and we play to the very end. To go out like we did, we had to be beat by the best.”
