James Pleasant Reynolds Sr.

James Pleasant Reynolds Sr., 84, of Uniontown, passed away April 20, 2016, in Opelika. He was a veteran of the North Korean Conflict, employed by Kynard’s West End Supply for 41 years as a salesman, employed by Perry County School System as a bus driver for 28 years, member of Uniontown City Council for 24 years and mayor of Uniontown for two years. On April 20, he went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Services are scheduled for Sunday, April 24 at 4 p.m. at Uniontown Baptist Church with Eric Gilchrest officiating. Burial will follow in Rosemont Cemetery, located at Highway 61 in Uniontown at Magnolia Chapel Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be held Sunday, April 24 at 3 p.m. at Uniontown Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his son, James Michael Reynolds; sisters, Lenora Edwards Reynolds, Norma Rose Hopkins, Mary Lou Larrimore and Elva Ann Jackson; brothers, John Spencer Reynolds Jr. and Hugh Oliver Reynolds; parents, John Spencer Reynolds Sr. and Rose May Reynolds.

He is survived by his spouse, Betty Scott Kynard Reynolds (for 59 years) of Uniontown; daughters, Elizabeth Rose (Scott) Davis, of Opelika, Martha Lynne Reynolds Hand of Opelika and Frances Margaret (Tommy) Cogle of Marion Junction; sons, Melvin Scott (Debra) Reynolds of Greensboro and James Pleasant (Angela) Reynolds Jr. of Jefferson; sister, Margaret Elizabeth Mock of Atlanta; brothers, George Arthur Reynolds of Groveland, California, and Mack Dudley Reynolds of Athens; grandchildren, Bradley Alan (Tina) Reynolds, Matthew Scott (Kyla) Reynolds, Wesley Scott Davis, Andrea Rose Reynolds, James Pleasant “Petey” Reynolds III, Brittney Nicole (Nathan) Elmer, Megan Elizabeth Davis, Thomas Edward Reynolds, Hannah Elisabeth Hand, Aaron Thomas Cogle, Nathan Lee Cogle, Abigail Faith Hand, Esther Aliya Hand, Benjamin Bryce Hand, Sarah Frances Cogle, Walter Griffin, Noah James Hand, Christina Rose Hand, Zoe Graceanne Hand and Rachel Briana Lee Hand; and seven great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Bradley Reynolds, Matthew Reynolds, Wesley Davis, Thomas Reynolds, James Reynolds III., Aaron Cogle, Nathan Cogle and Walter Griffin.
