Johnny Floyd “Gramps” Averitt

Johnny Floyd “Gramps” Averitt, age 80, of Valley Grande died March 26, 2016, at DCH Regional Medical Center in Tuscaloosa. He was born June 6, 1935, in Pine Hill.
He was a former railroad engineer with Norfolk Southern Railroad and a member of Northside Baptist Church in Selma.
He is survived by his wife, Ree Averitt; a daughter, Beth (Billy) Patterson; a son, Randall Averitt; seven sisters, Louise Moore, Barbara Jean Owen, Rosa Lee Higgins, Mary Ann Bellcase, Joan Averitt, Della Haynes, and Patricia Green; a brother, Billy Averitt; four grandchildren, Heather (Robert) Roseberry, Chad (Leah) Patterson, Brad Averitt, and Katherine Averitt, and one great grandchild, Elliot Mae Patterson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Evelyn Averitt; a sister, Nell Autrey; and a brother, Ralph Averitt.
Graveside funeral services will be held at Enon Cemetery on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at 2:30 p.m. with Dr. Kenny Hatcher officiating.
