David McCormack will take over leadership of the hospital beginning April 4. He comes to Selma with more than 30 years of experience in healthcare leadership, most recently serving as interim CEO of Pioneer Community Hospital of Stokes in Danbury, North Carolina.

“David is an outstanding leader and a natural fit for VRMC,” said Victor Giovanetti, Western Group President of LifePoint Health, of which Vaughan is a part. “We are eager for him to step into the top leadership position at Vaughan and begin exploring opportunities to further enhance the delivery of high quality patient care.”

Prior to his time with Pioneer Community Hospital of Stokes, McCormack served as president and CEO of Northeast Alabama Regional Medical Center in Anniston, where we worked from May 2009 to September 2014.

“We are excited to welcome a leader of David’s caliber to Vaughan,” said Johnny Morris, chair of VRMC’s Board of Trustees. “As a native of southern Alabama, he has a unique insight into the culture and dynamic healthcare needs of the community, and he also has an extraordinary amount of experience leading hospitals. He is the right leader to take Vaughan Regional into the future.”

McCormack has also held CEO positions as hospitals in Alabama, Florida, Mississippi and Oklahoma.

“Vaughan Regional Medical Center is a healthcare leader in Selma with a deep commitment to quality care and patient safety,” McCormack said. “I am looking forward to joining the excellent team in place and expanding on the high quality care that is already being delivered. Together with our community, employees and providers, we will continuously explore opportunities to meet the evolving needs of the community.”

McCormack earned a Bachelor of Science in accounting from Auburn University and a Masters of Business Administration from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida. He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and is actively involved in his community, sitting on numerous boards.

McCormack will relocate to Selma with his wife, Karlynn.
