Sybil D. Farish

Sybil D. Farish, age 88, of Selma, passed away March 8, 2016, at her home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. “Ned” Farish and her parents, Emmette and Myrtie Dicks and step-mother, Ira T. Dicks.

Surviving are her sons, Buddy (Kim) Farish and Glenn (Karla) Farish; sister-in-law, Dorothy Hartmann and grandchildren, Bailey Kathryn Farish, John C. Bennett, Jr. and Nathaniel Cole Farish. Sybil was a long-time, active member of Central Baptist/Valley Grande Baptist Church where she taught young children in Sunday School. She delighted in young children. She adored her grandchildren.

Always putting others before herself, Sybil spent much time socializing with and helping her neighbors and friends.

Her quick and endearing smile and great sense of humor made her a joy to be around. People could not help but be positively impacted by her uplifting and generous spirit. A loving mother, Nana, aunt, and “sister,” Mom will be deeply missed. Funeral services will be Monday, March 14, 2016, at 2 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Clarke Skelton officiating. Interment will be in New Live Oak Cemetery with Selma Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be prior to the service from 12:30-2 p.m.
