Dorothy Chandler “Dot” Bearden

Dorothy Chandler “Dot” Bearden was born on Dec. 5, 1926, to Otto and Ruby Chandler. Mrs. Bearden passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2016, in Tullahoma, Tennessee, at the age of 89.

Mrs. Bearden was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, James Rivers Bearden; parents, Otto and Ruby Chandler; brother, Tommy; sister, Evelyn Autrey; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

She will be remembered for her love of the Lord and family. She was passionate about her family and the special relationships she shared with each member.

Mrs. Bearden is survived by her brother, Doug (Pat) Chandler of Selma; aunt, Ruth Newsome of Selma; brother-in-law, HJ Autrey of Orange Beach; sister-in-law, Dot Lovelady of Selma; daughter, Janice (Temple) Bowling IV of Tullahoma; son, James (Kathy) Henderson Jr. of Selma; daughter, Joy (Dan) Sikes of Prattville; step-sons, James (Miriam) Bearden Sr. and Paul (Mary Gail) Bearden, both of Selma; grandchildren, Temple (Kimberly) Bowling V of Berry, Elizabeth Bowling of Tullahoma, Jonathan (Jackie) Bowling of Tuscaloosa, John Allen (Lori) Taylor of Monroe, Louisiana, Paige (Adam) Sleister of North Augusta, South Carolina, Megan Henderson of Huger, South Carolina; step-grandchildren, Pam (Marc) Ivey of Selma, Alan (Carrie) Bearden of Selma, Ross (Gwen) Bearden of Auburn, John Paul (Natalie) Bearden of Montgomery and Kent Bearden of Selma; great-grandchildren, Temple Bowling VI, Walter Chandler Bowling and Tyner Elizabeth Bowling, all of Berry, Anna Katherine “Katie” Bowling, Jonathan Clark Bowling II, Elizabeth “Libby” Elaine Bowling and Benjamin Temple Bowling all of Tuscaloosa, Zachary Sleister of North Augusta, South Carolina; step-great-grandchildren, Brady Wesson of Monroe, Louisiana, Alston Ivey, Grace Anne Ivey, Jack Bearden and Hatch Bearden, all of Selma, and Emma Kate Bearden and Graham Bearden of Auburn; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Mrs. Bearden will be held on Saturday, Feb. 13 from 11 a.m.- 1 p.m. at Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home in Selma with the funeral service to immediately follow at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Steve Kopp officiating and Lawrence Brown Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow at New Live Oak Cemetery.
