Family Sunshine Center is now offering free services to sexual assault victims in Dallas and surrounding counties.

The center is a non-profit organization based out of Montgomery that works to help sexual assault victims and their families.

Family Sunshine Center currently serves Autauga, Butler, Chilton, Crenshaw, Elmore, Lowndes and Montgomery. The center expanded into Dallas, Perry and Wilcox counties in December after receiving a grant from the Alabama Coalition against Rape and the Alabama Department of Public Health.

Their Selma office is in the SABRA Sanctuary building located on 726 Dallas Ave.

Family Sunshine Center case manager Danielle George said although the center does provide services for both domestic violence and sexual assault victims out of Montgomery, they will only be providing assistance to sexual assault cases in Dallas, Perry and Wilcox counties.

She said Family Sunshine Center and SABRA Sanctuary’s collaboration will help take care of victims because the each organization provides services that the other does not.

SABRA Sanctuary provides various services to domestic violence victims including safe shelter, legal information, a crisis line and other services.

Family Sunshine Center’s services include individual and family counseling, support groups, advocacy support, crisis lines, outreach and community education and more.

“All of the services are free… no cost to them at all,” George said.
