Marion Elizabeth Radford Godwin “Coonie,” age 93, of Burnsville died Jan. 19, 2016, at a local hospital. Services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 23 at Shady Grove Baptist Church in Burnsville, with the Rev. Ed Eaton officiating and Lawrence Funeral Home directing.
Burial will follow in Pineview Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 22 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
Survivors include her brother-in-law, Malcolm McKay Godwin, and sister-in-law; Eva Lou Godwin; nieces; Ann Hinds, Lynn (Otis) Bender, Monta Lou (Punkin) Crawford, Brenda (Mike) Deavors and Wanda (David) Hayes; niece-in-law, Judy Radford; nephew, Rex (Melissa) Thompson; several great and great-great nieces and nephews; an “adopted” son, Edward Eaton; a precious god child, Paula McWhorter; and special friends, Kathy Johnson and Sugar Baby. Mrs. Godwin was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 58 years, Curtis Reese Godwin; brothers, George Radford and Lauvil Radford; sisters, Mattie Dempsey, Lillie Mae Pugh and Minnie Gilbert; mother, Mary Lemley Radford, and father, Carl Radford. Mrs. Godwin was a long time member of Shady Grove Baptist Church and a retired employee of R.L. Zeigler Meat Packing Plant.
Pallbearers will be Rex Thompson, David Latham, Mark Sewell, Bucky Summerlin, David Summerlin, and Rodney Radford. Honorary pallbearer will be Jim Trantham.

“Coonie” will always be remembered for her warm heart and willingness to serve her Lord through helping others.
