Group continues goal of picking up Selma’s streets

Keep It Clean, Selma has had a successful first eight months. The group has picked up around Hope Academy and Houston Park, along with six other sites around our city that could use a little extra care.

Unfortunately, littering continues to be a problem everywhere. It’s an ongoing problem that continues to plague every city in the country.

Everyone invested in Selma wants to find a way to make this a better place to live and we can all point out things that could and should be different.

One thing we can all agree on is that litter is the last thing we want people to see when they drive through our city.

Anyone who wants to make a true difference in Selma can easily do so by volunteering a couple hours once a month to pick up trash from along Selma’s roadways. It makes the city a much more appealing place to live and much cleaner.

We appreciate the work of those in Keep it Clean, Selma, which continues to grow. We hope in 2016 even more volunteers step up to help clean our city.

The group’s next scheduled cleanup day is Jan. 9 at the Edmundite Missions Boscoe Food Center off of Broad Street.
