A single vehicle crash Saturday afternoon claimed the life of a Selma man.

According to a press release from the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency, Joseph James Osburn, 43, was killed when the 2008 Chevrolet Equinox he was driving left Persimmon Tree Road and struck a tree five miles north of Selma. The crash took place at 5:20 p.m.

Osburn was airlifted to UAB Hospital in Birmingham, where he was pronounced dead.

Osburn was not wearing a seat belt, according to the ALEA.

Alabama State Troopers are still investigating the accident.
