Herman Calvin Irwin

Herman Calvin Irwin, a resident of Abbeville, died early Friday morning, December 18, 2015 at his home. He was 84.

Celebration of Life Services will be from 2 -3 p.m., Monday, Dec. 21, in the Holman-Abbeville Mortuary Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wiregrass Humane Society, 255 Jerry Drive, Dothan, AL 36303.

Mr. Irwin was a native of Fitzgerald, Georgia having lived in Savannah, Tennessee and Selma before moving to Abbeville in 1996. He was retired from the International Paper Company in Selma after 29 years of employment. He was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin Herman Irwin, Sr. and Romie Keith Irwin; sisters, Laura Solomon and Julia Tison and a brother, David Irwin. He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the United States Air Force.

Surviving relatives include his partner, Dorothy K. Wisner-Irwin of Abbeville; one daughter, Krystal A. Harris (Johnny) of Valley Grande; two sons, Earl Irwin (Linda) of Valley Grande and Bruce K. Irwin (Dr. Lynn Irwin) of Enterprise; a sister, Connie Faye Chambliss of Cherokee, North Carolina; a brother, Urby Irwin of Paisley, Florida; 10 grandchildren, Justin Irwin (Candice), Jordan Irwin, Shelby Irwin, Faith Irwin, Kelley Frasier, Cameron Irwin Sanford (Jon), Catherine Irwin, David Colley, Chase Dunklin and Travis Colley; two great-grandchildren, Lannie Irwin and Brody Irwin; and several nieces and nephews.
