Dominick Blount pled guilty Monday to assault in the second degree and has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for an incident that occurred at a home on Selma Avenue in March 2014.

According to District Attorney Michael Jackson, Blount, 35, used a railroad spike to repeatedly strike a man in the face on March 8, 2014, and then stole money and beer from the victim before leaving the scene.

Blount was seen on video entering the gate to the victim’s property in the 1800 block of Selma Avenue and was later picked out of a six-man lineup by the victim.

The victim, who had been sleeping, was beaten unconscious and had to be airlifted to a Montgomery hospital with life threatening injuries.

“We are going to keep shipping these violent offenders off to prison for a long time,” said district attorney Michael Jackson.
