Annual event gives shoppers a chance to buy locally made products

The Holiday House is open at the Larry D. Striplin Performing Arts Center until Dec. 19 and is stocked with items made locally, like jams and desserts. The fundraiser is in its 37th year, but it never seems to get old because of all of the new items available each year.
There are plenty of options for someone looking for Christmas decorations or for a special gift made right here in our own backyard. With only 15 days left in the Christmas shopping season, it should be one of your first stops.
It’s a win-win for both sides and there really is something for everybody.
Twenty percent of the proceeds go toward the Old Depot Museum, which will use the funding for renovations to the building.
Purchases at the Holiday House also support local vendors. It’s exactly the kind of unique event that makes Selma so special.
Not only is a purchase at the house a chance to buy something Selma made, but it also is a way to support local people and a museum that is being transformed due to the work of Beth Spivey and others.
This is the Old Depot Museum’s second biggest fundraiser of the year, only behind the Low Country Boil.
Before we know it, the Holiday House will close for another year and won’t return until December 2016.
Make a stop to look around there before it’s too late.
