Nancy Elizabeth Powell Williamson, 76, died on Nov. 29, 2015.

She was born in Selma to Ila Mae and John Powell on Jan. 7, 1939. After completing training at the Mather School of Nursing in New Orleans, she married Gerard Williamson of N.O. They spent more than 20 years on Air Force assignments from the northeast to Europe to Southeast Asia, California, the Mid-west and Hawaii. Nancy worked as an registered nurse at most of these locations.

After retirement from the AF in 1978, the couple and their son, Michael, settled in Pensacola, Florida. Nancy worked for over 20 years at West Florida Hospital as RN/BS in cardiac care and director of the Cardiac Rehabilitation Center. She then went on to work for seven years with Covenant Hospice. In retirement, she volunteered with the Red Cross at the Naval Pharmacy. She was member of the Five Flags Dog Club and visitor, with her Sheltie, Tux, to local care facilities. She was a long time member of St. John Catholic Church, Warrington.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ila Mae Powell. She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Jerry; her son, Michael; her brother, John (Beth) Powell; and sisters-in-law, Nora Williamson, Marilyn DuBuc and Mary Williamson from N.O.; her uncle, Lamar (Bobbie} Brown from Inez, Texas; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services will begin at St. John’s Catholic Church, 303 S. Navy Blvd., at 10:30 a.m., with visitation, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. and internment at Barrancas National Cemetery at 1:15 p.m.

A reception will follow at St. John’s School immediately following. In lieu of followers, donations may be made in her name to St. John’s Catholic Church or a Charity of your choosing. Funeral arrangements are handled by Oak Lawn of Pensacola.
