Doris Oakes Shields, age 95, of Safford passed away Friday the 13th of November after a brief illness.

She is survived by her daughters, Eleanor Holladay–Eaton (Jerry) of Anniston and Eunice Roberts of Safford and Pleasant Grove; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and her brother, Tom Oakes of Douglasville, Georgia.

Mrs. Shields is preceded in death by her husband, Revis Shields; daughter, Dot Harris; parents, Thomas Oakes and Mattie Evans Oakes; sisters, Manola Dozier and Norene Edwards; and brothers, William Oakes and James Oakes.

The family will receive friends on Sunday from 5-7 p.m. at Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home. A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Shields will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the Safford Baptist Church with burial to follow at New Live Oak Cemetery in Selma.
