The Dallas County High School volleyball season came to an end Friday in the super regional round of the class 5A playoffs at Cramton Bowl in Montgomery.

The Hornets (19-6) lost to Tallassee 20-25, 20-25, 25-23, 25-19 and saw a season where they achieved many school firsts, including winning the area 6 title and hosting and winning the area 6 tournament, end on a sour note.

“We had trouble with ball control,” said Dallas County head coach Linda Moore. “That was the main thing [that went wrong.]”

The loss put an end to what was a lot of hard work for Dallas County. The team did CrossFit in the offseason to get into shape and went through a remarkable stretch where they won 36 of 42 sets.

Moore said nerves may have factored in to her team’s up and down performance Friday.

“We are going to go back to the drawing board and look at what we can do to get better next year,” Moore said.

Tallassee will play Calera Saturday.
