Edgar Lamar Calloway Sr., age 81, of Tuscaloosa, entered into rest on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2015, in Northport.
Funeral service will be held on Sunday, Oct. 18, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Rockco Funeral Home Chapel in Centreville.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to service with burial in Brent Cemetery. Chaplain Michelle Hunter and Bill McDonald will officiate.
Mr. Lamar Calloway retired after a productive career with Alabama Power Company. He enjoyed an active life in service to others as he served more than a decade with the Boy Scouts of American, assisting numerous young men in acquiring the rank of Eagle Scout. Lamar also participated in numerous civic organizations, leading fund raising events in the service of those in need. Lamar shared his Christian faith with those he met by example as he shared a smile and words of encouragement with everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
He is survived by his wife, Lanelle Callaway of Tuscaloosa; son, Edgar Lamar Calloway Jr. of Tuscaloosa; and sister, Juliette Davenport of Valley Grande. He is preceded in death by his parents, John and Ethal Calloway; and sister, Ester Faye Seymore.
Pallbearers will be Shane Tuck, Tommy Richardson, Burk Seymore, Mike Beam, Zach Drake and Tony Smelley. Honorary pallbearers, Jim Oakley, Jimmy Steagall, University of Alabama softball team; staff and administration of Hospice of West Alabama and Park Manor Health and Rehab. Flowers accepted and donations to Hospice of West Alabama.
