Busy schedule in Selma Saturday

There’s always something going on in Selma, but this weekend is extra busy. If you can’t find something to do, you just aren’t looking.

Integrity Worldwide is having its Run for Kenya 2015 10K, 5K and 1-mile run at 9 a.m. Saturday morning. More than 450 runners are expected to take part in a run where proceeds will be used to build a medical clinic in Meto, Kenya.

Registration will take place before the race Saturday. However, if running isn’t your thing, there’s plenty of other events going on in an action packed day.

The Blackbelt Benefit Group and Grow Selma will hold the second Farm to Feast event at Spencer Farm starting early Saturday morning. The fundraiser will start at 8 a.m. with its Sunrise Series, which includes the choice between four different classes, and continues that evening at 4 p.m. with Seat at the Table, where those who attend can enjoy a meal and a speaking engagement with Jason Powell of Petals from the Past and a performance by the Alabama School of Fine Arts.

Both Wallace Community College Selma and Concordia College Alabama will have big events going on too.

Wallace is hosting a dance competition at 3 p.m. in an effort to raise money for a competitive dance team in Selma. Tickets are $15 at the door.

Concordia will have its homecoming football game Saturday at 1 p.m. against Tiffin University.

Halloween is two weeks away, but Selma’s ninth annual Haunted History Tours can get you in the holiday spirit. The tours start Saturday evening and are led by re-enactors that will be in period dress. Tickets for the cemetery tour are $10.

There’s also a car and truck show in front of the St. James Hotel from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m.

There is something for everybody in the family Saturday. The weather is supposed to be wonderful — 72 degrees and no rain is forecasted. We encourage everyone to get out of the house and enjoy what should be a fantastic day.
