Lillie N. Perkins

Lillie N. Perkins passed away on Sept. 16, 2015, at the Vaughan Regional Medical Center in Selma. She was born Lillie Odell Nichols to the late William Joseph and Mattie Barnett Nichols on Aug. 24, 1920, in Sprott. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Drolet (Buddy) Perkins; sisters, Cliffie Stone and Gillie Nichols; brother, Irvin Nichols; and infant daughter, Julia Perkins.
She is survived by her sons; Kenneth Perkins and Donald Perkins of Marion and Ray Perkins (Kathy) of Woodstock; grandchildren; Elizabeth (Brad) Brady of Marion and William Perkins of Selma; great-grandchildren; Matthew and Lindsay Brady of Marion, and Mason and McCann Perkins of Selma.
Mrs. Perkins was devoted to her husband and family. She was a homemaker for most of her life. She was also a talented seamstress who worked many years at a local sewing plant. She enjoyed reading, cooking, sewing, genealogy and gardening. She was a faithful member of Mt. Carmel Methodist Church. She was a friend to all who knew her and will be remembered by all of those who were touched by her kindness.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015, at Mt. Carmel Methodist Church in Marion with Kirk Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the church an hour before the service. James I. Davis will officiate. Active pallbearers are Louis Colburn, Jerry Lavender, Jimmy Lavender, Jerry Moore, Harold Perkins and James Stone.
Honorary pallbearers are the staff and employees of Southland Nursing Home, former employees of Bi-Flex/Marion Manufacturing, Dr. Shane Lee, Dr. Luther Richardson, UAB/Vaughan Family Medicine Residents, Dr. Samer Fahoum and the staff of the Vaughan Regional ER and ICU units.
