LYNN — Only 19 players suited up for Ellwood Christian’s road game against Lynn, but the Eagles were in no shortage of playmakers as they cruised to their best start in school history.
Ellwood Christian (3-0) stayed undefeated after defeating the Lynn Bears (0-3) 32-6 Friday. Head coach Trey Pike said it was a total team effort, with multiple players making contributions on offense, defense and special teams.
Junior Taylor Ellis made his first start of the season at quarterback, and Pike said he performed well in his debut.
With three seconds remaining in the first half, Taylor Ellis hit senior Macio Johnson for a touchdown to take a 20-6 lead into the locker room.
“Taylor Ellis started at free safety tonight as well as quarterback and he played a very good game, led a big-time drive through a lot of adversity,” Pike said.
Rayford Mitchell continued his strong senior season by getting into the end zone for the Eagles. Ellwood will face Keith Thursday at Memorial Stadium.
