Dallas County rallied from a first half deficit Friday to defeat Billingsley 14-7 in a jamboree contest.

After Billingsley’s James Woods gave the Bears the lead with a touchdown run, Dallas County responded on both sides of the ball.

The Hornets’ Domonique Walker returned an interception 60-yards in the second quarter to tie the game 7-7 at halftime. In the second half, Willie Lofton scored on a 32-yard touchdown reception to give the Hornets the lead for good.

Billingsley had the ball inside the Hornets’ 20-yard line three times in the second half but came away with nothing. Dallas County couldn’t take advantage of good chances in the second half either, as the Hornets couldn’t capitalize on multiple opportunities inside the Billingsley red zone.

“We’ve got to do a better job of protecting the football,” said Dallas County head coach Marty Smith. “We fumbled on the 3-yard-line and fumbled on the 1-yard-line that easily could’ve put us in a situation to really put the game away.”

Dallas County will open its regular season Friday night against Selma (1-0) at Memorial Stadium.
