Pioneer Electric Cooperative will host a town hall meeting Thursday along with other county leaders.
With the start of the school year around the corner, Pioneer Electric communication specialist Casey Rogers said the meeting is just in time for people to plan for next year.
“We want to inform the general public about different things we have available with Pioneer Electric and different things that are going on in Dallas County and surrounding areas,” Rogers said.
Probate Judge Kim Ballard, District Judge Bob Armstrong, Dallas County Sheriff Harris Huffman, Sen. Hank Sanders and Dallas County Schools Superintendent Don Willingham will also offer their insights on what’s happening in the community. Other utilities, including ClearWater Solutions and South Dallas Water Authority, will be on hand as well.
“I’m sure they’re going to talk about issues that are pertinent to the different people there, and what’s going on in their communities,” Rogers said. “I think it’s important to be in the know about what’s going on in the community. If people are in the know, and they know of programs that are available to them, ultimately their qualities of life will be better.”
Armstrong plans on offering some great news and proven data about decreasing juvenile crime in the county.
“I plan on talking about the transformation of the juvenile justice system,” he said. “We have great statistics showing a 72 percent drop in juvenile crime.”
The town hall meeting will be held Thursday at the Sardis Community Unity Fellowship Hall, located at 6144 County Road 30, at 6 p.m.
