William Raymond “Ray” Weeden

William Raymond “Ray” Weeden, born Jan. 7, 1922, to the late Willie Marion and Willie Jeffries Weeden, passed away July 18, 2015.

Ray was a veteran, serving in World War II and receiving the World War II Victory Medal, European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal with two bronze stars and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of Northside Baptist Church; previously attending Central Baptist Church. He worked as a service station manager for many years at Champion Service Station and Sullivan Service Station before retiring.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Lois Weeden; and sisters, Mary Pruett, Stella Little and Annie Louise Smith.

He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Willie Mae Seele, Lillian Deavers, Janet Mathis, Joyce Freeman, Marion Little, Renee Lamb and Danny Weeden.

Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 22, 2015, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home with the Rev. Ken Blake officiating. Interment will follow in New Live Oak Cemetery. The family will receive friends beginning at 12 p.m.

Pallbearers will be Benny Austin, Berry Vines, Ken Smith, Norman Copeland, George Taylor and Terry Hughes.
