Alfred F. Johnson, a resident of Prattville, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2015.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Albert Johnson; sister, Pauline Pinson; son, Victor “Jack” Johnson; and a daughter, Teresa “T.J” Boggs.

He is survived by his wife, Nora Gray Johnson; daughter, Gloria (Lloyd) Turner; a brother, Lloyd G. Johnson; four grandchildren, Rebecca Lynn Presnall, Chesley Dale Gralla, Benjamin Patrick Johnson and Jacque Johnson; five great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday July 18, 2015, at Calvary Baptist Church in Prattville at 11 a.m.

Mr. Johnson was born Oct. 21, 1923, in Atlanta, where he joined the Army at the age of 16. He fought the entire war in the European Theater and was a member of the Big Red 1. When he returned home, he traveled around a bit until he met and married the love of his life. He later enlisted in the Air Force and completed his military career with the Air Force.

He moved his family back to Prattville and completed his education in industrial electricity. After a brief time in Eufaula teaching at the community college, he moved to Selma and taught industrial electricity for 18 years at George Wallace Community College while simultaneously running Johnson’s Tire Store.

He will be loved and remembered by many family and friends as a man of his word who displayed honor and integrity and also told stories of the war.
