Elbert Ray Spears, born a miracle baby weighing just two pounds on July 6, 1937, slipped the bounds of his earthly home in his sleep on July 14, 2015, to go home to his heavenly father. His was preceded in death by his father, Howard; mother, Leona; and brothers Dave, James and Lynn.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Helen of Selma; daughter Lynn (James) of Bulls Gap, Tenn.; sons, Bobby (Patricia) of Valley Grande and Floyd of Portsmouth, Va.; sisters, Betty Price of Nashville and Mary Trawick of Columbus, Ga.; brothers, Hugh and Doug of Church Hill, Tenn.; grandchildren, Jennifer, Brandi, Shayne, Michelle and Jordan; and great-grandchildren, Whitt, Mary Calyn, Hannah, Meredith and yet to be born Nolan.
Visitation will be held Friday, July 17 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral will be Saturday, July 18 at 11 a.m. at Lawrence funeral home Selma, Al. Interment will be at Pineview Memory Gardens Cemetery Valley Grande.
