The Selma Police Department is looking for two men that allegedly fired into Crown Chicken early Sunday morning.
According to Lt. Curtis Muhannad, officers responded to the 800 block of Broad Street around 2:20 a.m. Sunday morning in reference to a shooting into an occupied building call.
“When officers arrived at the scene they found several shell casings on the ground outside of the business and bullet holes in the windows,” Muhannad said in a press release.
Witnesses told officers that there were customers inside the restaurant when the shots were fired.
According to Muhannad, surveillance video from a camera outside of the restaurant showed two black male suspects with handguns firing at and around the business.
Store manager Mohammad Ansar confirmed the shooting Tuesday evening. Ansar said there were customers in the restaurant when the two men fired shots at it from outside.
“We have nothing to do with it. They just started shooting at each other,” Ansar said.
Ansar, as well as the Selma Police Department, confirmed no one was hurt in the shooting.
The store was damaged though. Ansar said the windows, which are bulletproof, were damaged from the bullets, and the store is waiting to replace them because they have to be special ordered.
According to Muhannad, the two suspects have not been identified yet, but the surveillance video did show the two men responsible for the shooting.
The SPD released two screenshots Tuesday to get help from the public in identifying the two men. One screenshot shows a suspect walking in front of the camera, and the other one shows a suspect from behind with what appears to be a handgun in his right hand.
The Selma Police Department is asking anyone with information on the shooting to contact Crime Stoppers at 874-2588 or 1-866-442-7463. The SPD Criminal Investigation Division can be reached directly at 874-2125. Calls will be kept confidential and could result in a cash award for information regarding the case.
