A hospice center will host an event to honor lost loved ones through a butterfly release.
Asera Care Hospice will host its third annual memorial event on Tuesday in remembrance of those who passed away this year.
“It’s something that every hospice does to remember the patients that we’ve lost,” said registered nurse and director of clinical services Sheila Kendall. “We open the memorial event to members of the community who have lost loved ones and to our local supporters.”
The event began three years ago with the idea that a memorial would help family members and employees of the center say their goodbyes.
Kendall feels that the event helps with the healing process of losing a loved one. She says that the memorial shows that working in hospice care is much more than just a job.
“We value the lives of the people we were able to help in their last chapter, working in hospice is much more than a paycheck,” Kendall said.
The memorial event is open for all to attend and will be at the St. James Hotel from noon to 2 p.m. For more information, contact Asera Care at 334-872-1104.
