Selma High Jazz Band puts on show to remember

Selma High School’s Jazz Band held a concert Tuesday night at the Carl C. Morgan Convention Center in hopes of raising money for the band program and getting the word out about the various organizations the school has to offer.

We think the band did a pretty good job, considering it was a packed house. There were no seats left at Tuesday’s dinner and concert, leaving some to even pull up an extra table to enjoy the show. We are glad to see the community, including representatives from the Selma City School System, coming out to support local musicians and give back to the school that many attended themselves.

Those in attendance had a good time as they ate, caught up with friends, danced and sang along with different tunes the band played.

The audience even got to participate by guessing what song the band was playing, which eventually led to most everyone singing along with the famous hit by Sister Sledge, “We Are Family.”

We hope to see more events like the concert in the future, and we are proud of the community for showing up and showing out in support of local students.
