In order to honor those who served the United States in the country’s armed forces, many Selma businesses will be closed Monday.

The Dallas County Courthouse and Annex and all of the businesses within it will be closed on the day of service.

The Selma Police Department’s front desk will be open for operation on Memorial Day. Incident reports and claims can still be filed that day. Other offices like the traffic office and the chief’s office will be closed. All operations at the police department will open as usual on Tuesday.

Selma City Hall will be closed on Monday. Normal operation hours will resume on Tuesday.

Trash collections will go a bit differently, with no collectors on hand to dispose of trash. Advanced Disposal will be closed, but customers are asked to leave their trashcans out on Monday. Monday’s trash will be picked up on Tuesday.

Selma’s United States Postal Service will also close its doors on Monday. It will reopen Tuesday.
