John Laurie Dale Jr., age 87, a resident of Oak Hill, died Saturday, May 16, 2015, at Baptist Medical Center South of Montgomery.
He was born May 13, 1928, to the late John Laurie Dale Sr. and Susie Myrtle Rogers Dale.
Mr. Dale was a graduate of Moore Academy in Pine Apple and attended Auburn University.
He was a veteran, having served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
For many years, he was a cattle farmer and owner of Dale Pulpwood Company.
He was a member of Bethel Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church at Oak Hill, where he had served as a deacon for 57 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Clarkie Elizabeth “Betty” Williamson.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Olivia Stone Dale; son, John L. (Lynn) Dale III; daughter, Marie Dale (Mark) Olinger; and grandchildren, Laurie Gilmer Dale, Olivia Moore Dale, Robert Dale Olinger and John Alan Olinger.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 19, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Bethel Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church in Oak Hill with the Rev. Stuart F. Fowler officiating and Lawrence Brown-Service Funeral Home directing. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 1 p.m.
Pallbearers will be Robert D. Olinger, John Alan Olinger Erskine D. Kennedy, Wesley S. Kennedy, Samuel J. Henderson and D. Scott Mitchell. Honorary pallbearers are Dr. Howard F. Williamson Jr., John D. Williamson, Curtis A. Mitchell, F. David Fuller, John C. Lamkin and Jacob C. Harper III.
