One Selma man was stabbed multiple times Saturday night and another was brutally assaulted after they allegedly got into a fight over a woman at a party on Abbott Avenue.
According to Lt. Muhannad with the Selma Police Department, officers responded to the emergency room at Vaughan Regional Medical Center around 1:15 a.m. in reference to a 36-year-old stab victim.
“When officers arrived at the [Emergency Room], they met with a 36-year-old black male, who was being treated for two stab wounds,” Muhannad said. “The victim advised officers that he was at a social gathering in the 300 block of Abbot Avenue.”
According to Muhannad, the victim told officers that he got into a fight with 30-year-old Anthony Ellis over a woman at the party.
“The altercation became physical and Mr. Ellis pulled a knife and stabbed him twice,” Muhannad said.
“The victim did not seek immediate medical attention.”
The victim was taken to his mother’s house before she transported him to the emergency room, where he was treated and released.
Around 2:30 a.m. officers responded to the emergency room again, but this time it was in reference to an assault victim.
The victim was Ellis, who allegedly stabbed the 36-year-old.
“When officers arrived at the emergency room they met with Anthony Ellis, the suspect in the stabbing,” Muhannad said. “He was being treated for several cuts sustained from being struck over the head with a bottle.”
According to Muhannad, Ellis was also being treated for a shoulder injury and bruises from being assaulted by several people at the party.
Ellis was treated and later released from Vaughan Regional Medical Center.
According to Muhannad, the stabbing and assault are being investigated by the Major Crimes Unit, and no arrests have been made at this time.
