Mr. Ernest Lee “Son” Hollingshead Sr., lifelong resident of Hayneville, died Sunday, May 10, 2015, at his daughter’s (Gail) home in Auburn, after suffering a heart attack in November 2014.

He was born March 31, 1928, in Lowndes County. Funeral services will be graveside in Hayneville Cemetery at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 12, 2015. Harry Ward Jr., his grandson, will perform the service.

Mr. Hollingshead is survived by two daughters, Charlotte (Danny) McDonald and Gail Ward Hollingshead Cox; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by a daughter, Ernestine Hollingshead; and a son, Ernest Lee Hollingshead Jr. Mr. Hollingshead was the last to die of 13 siblings.

The family would like to thank Clarence Holley for his dedication and helping as a caregiver for Mr. Hollingshead. Also, they would like to thank Alacare Home Health and Hospice, specifically, Linda and Chasika, who primarily took care of him and Alacare’s chaplain Tim Calloway. Daddy was always happy to see him.
