Relay for Life positive event for Selma

Thursday night was a great night in Selma as members of the community participated in the Selma-Dallas County Relay for Life at Lions Fair Park.

Many teams showed their support by decorating their tents with balloons, pictures, paintings, sweet treats and more.

Cancer survivors were honored at the beginning of the event and were given medals and told how many months or years they have been cancer free. Caregivers were there to show support but were also recognized for all they do and have done to provide support and the best care possible for their loved one.

The event was a chance for survivors to celebrate beating cancer, but also raise awareness about the unforgiving disease.

Cancer doesn’t pick and choose its battles. The disease affects all of us in one way or another, whether it’s a fight we’re facing or helping a loved one in their own battle. That’s why it’s so important to celebrate those that have won the battle and why it’s so critical to continue supporting organizations like the American Cancer Society.

We hope to see Relay For Life continue to be as successful in the years to come.
