Special adoption days to give pet-seekers extra time to get new pet

The Selma Animal Shelter is giving people extra time to adopt a special pet.

The shelter, which is usually open only Monday through Friday, will host special adoption days on the first Saturday of every month from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Due to the weekday hours the shelter is usually open, it’s difficult for some people to swing by.

The Humane Society of Central Alabama, a nonprofit, is teaming up with the shelter to provide for adoption ready dogs.

The animals will already be spayed, neutered and up-to-date on their shots for $100 a dog. Anyone that wants to fill out a form will need to fill out an application and pending approval may be able to take their new special friend home that day.

We strongly encourage anyone in Selma looking for a pet to start his or her search at the Selma Animal Shelter during the week or on one of the special adoption Saturdays. The shelter has healthy dogs that are up to date on their shots that need a home.

Cats will also be available for adoption from Selma Perfect Pals for $50.

Animals not only liven up a home with their play but with the right amount of love can become the perfect addition to a family.

We hope all of the shelter’s animals find homes very soon. Anyone with questions or in search of information can call 431-0476.
