Collette was born October 11, 1955, and left this life on April 25, 2015. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at 1 p.m. at Prattville Memorial Chapel.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert M. “Bobby” McLaughlin Jr.; an infant son, Eric Allen McLaughlin; her mother, Juanita McAfee Smith; father-in-law, Robert M. McLaughlin Sr.; brother-in-law, Thomas Oneal Posey; sister-in-law, Deborah Nichols Smith; her grandparents, Charlie and Crola Smith, Robert and Rena McAfee; and a dear aunt, Joyce McAfee Barrett.

She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Anne McLaughlin; father, Thaddious Coleman Smith; brothers, Chris Smith and Ed (Janet) Smith; sister, Joy Posey; mother-in-law, Louise S. McLaughlin; nieces and nephews, Christen (Mark) Smith, Melissa Smith, Bradley (Shelby) Smith, Josh (Kayla) Smith, Noel (Jason) Dawkins, Tara (Roger) Posey, Blair (Michael) Adams and Kelly Posey; great-nieces and nephews, Owen and Riley Smith, Kaleb Smith, Liam Dawkins, Bella and Thad Beckley and Brayson Cranmore; uncles and aunts, Curtis and Marjorie Smith, Bob and Faye McAfee and Carole McAfee; a very dear cousin, Virginia Hull; and numerous other cousins.

Collette was a loving mother, daughter, sister and aunt. She spent over 30 years in the nursing profession dedicated to the care and needs of others.
