Parade to honor Keith’s championship

The town of Orrville will proudly hold a parade for the Keith Lady Bears basketball team, which won the Alabama High School Athletic Association’s 1A championship at the end of February.

The parade will start Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Orrville Community Center. We’re excited for the celebration, which will honor the student-athletes that worked so hard for what they achieved.

The parade will make its way around Keith High School and a cookout will be held for both the Bears’ girls team and the boys squad, which spent most of the year ranked No. 1 in the Alabama Sports Writers Association poll.

During the parade, former R.C. Hatch head coach Eugene Mason will also be honored. Mason was close with the Lady Bears’ basketball team after spending many of his afternoons at their practices helping Keith head coach Cecil Williams.

We encourage the community to show its support Saturday in Orrville, as a way of congratulating the Lady Bears on their impressive accomplishment.
