The city of Selma will be taken back in time this weekend, as the city hosts “Motown Revue: Hitzville — The Show,” a popular musical show that has been performed on the Las Vegas Strip.

The show, which has been rated No. 1 by Las Vegas critics for the past 10 years, features the music of popular Motown artists like Tina Turner, the Temptations, Gladys Knight, the Supremes, the Four Tops and others.

The show is going to be in town Saturday, March 14 at Selma High School in the auditorium at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets are $20, $30 and $50. The $20 tickets are for general admission. The $30 tickets are for reserved seating, and the $50 tickets are for VIP.

Selma Mayor Goerge Evans saw the show two years ago in Las Vegas. He said he is excited to bring the act to Selma.

“I saw them a couple of years ago, and they are actually a tremendous group of performers,” Evans said. “It is an excellent show. These people are professionals.”

“Hitzville – The Show” features vocals from Jin-Jin Reeves, who is from Lowndes County. She performs renditions of songs by the likes of Aretha Franklin and Diana Ross.

The revue will also feature Reeves’ backup singers, Mirage Brown and Alexandria Morgan, a quartet of male singers, known as the Hitzville Croonersm and the multimember Hitzville Band.

“If you close your eyes and just think and not look, you would think it is the real Four Tops or the Temptations,” Evans said. “They are really, truly good.”

The performers also look the part.

“They must have changed outfits maybe 10 times when I saw them before,” Evans said. “They have different outfits for every song they sing.”

The show is usually performed in the V Theater at the Planet Hollywood Hotel.

“I think it will be a real treat for Selma to come out and see the show,” Evans said. “They won’t be disappointed.”
