Letter thanks all involved in 50th anniversary

Dear editor,

Needless to say, I was impressed with this past week and especially this weekend. Even though it took my granddaughter and I three hours standing in line to get through security, it was all worth it.

What many do not know is that there were many, many people and businesses that made what happened in Selma this past week a success. I would like to thank all who sacrificed their time and efforts in throwing out the welcome mat to the citizens of Selma and Dallas County, but more specifically to our visitors.

Thank you downtown business people for giving up your income by closing your doors and making financial sacrifices to accommodate our out of towners and regular residents.

You made the days an enjoyable one for persons near and far, from across other bridges and other bodies of water, from in-state and distance statss. Thank you.

Secondly, I had the necessary privilege to drive on several occasions to Montgomery and back and forth on Highway 22 to get to my home. I have never witnessed those highways being as clean as they were during this past week and weekend. A special thank you is due to those who took part in cleaning those other highways. Thank you.

Those persons responsible for the protection and security of all who were in attendance; the law officers from every branch imaginable. They did an excellent job. They spoke kindly and were willing to be of help. They respected the people and the people respected them. They, along with all the various residents of Selma and Dallas County deserve a friendly pat on the back and special congratulation.

Be encouraged Selma and Dallas County. We see what can be done when we work together for a common cause for the enhancement of others and ourselves. Let us piggy back on this and keep on marching for our city and county.

God bless America and God bless our city and county.
