UAB forward and Dallas County High School alumnus William Lee was named Tuesday to the 2014-2015 Conference USA All-Freshman Team.
Lee averaged 7.6 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game this year for the Blazers, but his numbers improved greatly as the season went on.
After an injury kept him out of UAB’s first two games and limited his minutes, Lee cracked the starting lineup in December and has looked like the dominant force that earned him the title as the Alabama Sports Writers Association’s Mr. Basketball recipient last season.
The Mr. Basketball award is given to the state’s top player.
In his last seven games, Lee has averaged 12.9 points, 8.7 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per contest.
He scored a career high 18 points March 5 against Florida Atlantic.
One week before he came two blocks shy of a triple double in a 16 point, 11 rebound performance against Middle Tennessee.
