Catherine Hall “Kate” Hubert

Hubert, Catherine Hall “Kate” was born Apr. 14, 1964, in Knoxville, Tenn. and died Feb. 18, 2015.

She grew up in Selma and graduated from Selma High School. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a long time member of Selma’s First Baptist Church.

After graduating from Troy University, she went on to work for the Alabama state government in Montgomery for 23 years.

Kate was an avid reader, loved to travel and found great joy in the choir and soloists of Frazer Memorial Methodist Church. She also brought laughter and smiles to those around her with her infectious laughter.

Kate is survived by her parents, Bob and Lawson Hubert; and two sisters, Martha Van Dam (Tim) and Jennifer Gentle (Shawn). She loved the years of playing with her nieces, Caroline and Amelia Gentle; and her nephews, Harrison Gentle and Chris (Shelby), Nick (Marisa) and Sam (Maria) Kirby.

She is survived also by her aunt and uncle, Sara and Richard Oglesby of New Jersey and their children and grandchildren, and also nephews T.J. Van Dam and Carson and Hadyn Kirby.

A memorial service to celebrate her life is being held at Liberty Park Baptist Church Saturday, Feb. 21, at 11 a.m. with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. with Kilgroe Funeral Home in Leeds directing.
