Sonic’s Selma location is set to back in business Friday, as reconstruction of the fast food restaurant has been completed.
The restaurant closed in mid-December for a complete overhaul. The original building was torn down, and a new building was built in its place at the same location on North Broad Street.
“Getting a delicious meal or a sweet treat in a drive-in has become part of our culture. We salute this deep connection to Sonic and are excited to be re-opening at our same location,” said Buddy McClain, CEO of the MVP Sonic Group that owns the Selma restaurant, in a press release.
The main focus of the rebuilding was new technology.
The new restaurant will feature new digital displays along with other upgrades that will make paying easier for customers.
“We are committed to remain in Selma and are thrilled to have built a brand new Sonic for our customers here,” McClain said.
The fast food restaurant has been located near the intersection of North Broad Street and Highland Avenue for more than 30 years.
“I want to personally thank the Selma community for more than 30 years at this same location,” McClain said.
