Mildred Irene Cruce, age 95, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014. She was a native and long term resident of Bessemer and a member of Canaan Baptist Church. For the past three years, she resided at Park Place Nursing Center in Selma and was a member of Selma’s First Baptist Church. Mrs. Cruce was preceded in death by her husband, Don Cruce; her infant son, Larry Don Cruce; her parents, Fred and Georgia Ashley Lint; and her sister, Ruth Spradlin. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Cruce (Dr. David B.) Thomas; her grandchildren, Paul D. (Catherine) Thomas and Elisabeth Thomas (Jonathan) Cooper; her great grandchildren, Lauren, Andrew and Anna Henri Thomas; Kaitlyn and Ryan Cooper; and her special caregivers and friends, Margaret Miller, Cheryl Williams, Freida Payne and Daryl Pitts. Graveside services will be Friday, Jan. 2, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Highland Memorial Gardens. Brother David B. Thomas will be officiating.
