Roundup: Selma, Morgan boys win

Selma 62, Mary G. Montgomery 54 (Boys)
Led by Dexter Hatcher’s 23 points, Selma (11-2) defeated Mary G. Montgomery in the first round of a tournament at Leflore High School Monday.
Hatcher also added nine rebounds as part of his dominating performance, but he had plenty of help. Michael Griffin had a double-double, scoring 12 points and adding ten rebounds and Aderick Moore had nine points and ten rebounds.
The Saints will take on Cottage Hill at 3 p.m. Tuesday.
Morgan Academy 54, Autauga Academy 48 (Boys)
Right before Christmas, Morgan Academy is playing its best basketball of the season.
The Senators (6-4) won the Autauga Academy Christmas Tournament Saturday 54-48 for their fifth win in six games.
Jackson Henderson, who paced Morgan in Friday’s semifinal with a season high 18 points, was named tournament MVP. Henderson knocked down five clutch free throws in the final minutes of Saturday’s win, keeping Autauga at bay and preserving the win for the Senators.
The Senators were led in scoring by Sawyer Hopkins with 16 points and John Ross Bone added 12. Morgan led 26-19 at halftime and 36-26 after three quarters.
R.C. Hatch 66, Southside 64 (Boys)
R.C. Hatch overcame a late four point deficit to defeat Southside in the first round of the Dallas County Christmas Tournament at Wallace Community College Selma.
Davion Lewis scored 11 points in the fourth quarter to spark the come from behind win for R.C. Hatch.
Scott Cole knocked down six three-pointers to pace Southside with 18 points in the contest.
