This week’s Lunch at the Library will be hosting an author whose book hits close to home.

Sharon Jackson, author of  “Images of America: Selma,” will be the library’s guest Nov. 13 for the noon event. She will also be having a meet and greet at the library later in at 4 p.m.

“We’re certainly thrilled always to have books about Selma and Dallas County, and Sharon’s collection of photographs is a wonderful representation of the history of our community,” said Becky Nichols, director of the Selma-Dallas County Library. “It’s the story of who we are. I love the way she put it together, so we’re excited to present that to the community.”

Jackson will be available to talk with guests and autograph books that will be for sale.

“The book has beautiful pictures, and it gives details about some of the pictures, but there’s just so much more to the stories,” Jackson said. “I’m excited … to be able to share some more of the stories as it relates to the book and just for us to be able to talk about the proud history of Selma.”

Jackson said she is happy to be able to present her book, especially in the library that she did a lot of her research in.

“I am really excited,” Jackson said. “Just being able to share stories and maybe even learn some more facts myself.”

Jackson said she is looking forward to meeting everyone and exchanging stories with others.

“The long range plan is to be able to do presentations about Selma in other communities, so the more I can learn, the better I will be able to present Selma to other audiences,” Jackson said.

Lunch at the Library tickets are $8 and can be purchased by calling the library.

Lunch will be served at noon, and Jackson will begin her program at 12:30.

At 4 p.m., Jackson will be returning for another program, free to the public.
