Meadowview volleyball inches closer to state championship

Meadowview Christian defeated Tuscaloosa Christian and Lindsay Lane Friday to move within two wins of the school’s first varsity volleyball championship.

The Lady Trojans will play Saturday in the Alabama Christian Athletic Association’s state volleyball tournament at 10:15 a.m. against New Life Christian, the school that handed Meadowview its only loss of the season.

Meadowview defeated previously undefeated Lindsay Lane 25-23, 25-14 to reach the quarterfinals and then made it past Tuscaloosa.

New Life defeated Providence 25-9, 27-25 and then defeated Tabernacle, who had to win its first match in three sets.

If Meadowview wins its first game Saturday, the Lady Trojans will wait for the winner of the loser’s bracket. The championship match will start at 2 p.m., with a possible “if necessary” game starting at 3:15 p.m.

If Meadowview loses its first game, the Lady Trojans would play at 11:30 a.m. against the other remaining team in the loser’s bracket.

The tournament is taking place at Oxford High School in Oxford, Alabama.

 

Dallas County falls to Rehobeth

The Dallas County Lady Hornets saw their volleyball season end Friday night.

Rehobeth won all three sets of the match to defeat the Hornets in a match at Cramton Bowl in Montgomery.
