Rev. Kenneth Leon Scott, Sr. was born in Chilton County, Alabama on April 18, 1932 and went to be with his Lord on August 16, 2014 in Selma, AL.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betty Joy Scott; daughter-in-law, Wanda Scott; granddaughters, Ashley Scott and Michelle Smith; grandson, Clay Ross and seven great-grandchildren.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Nevada Scott; son, Kenneth L. Scott, Jr. and daughter, Beverly Scott.
Ken founded Joy Baptist Temple in 1975, where he pastored until his retirement from the pulpit in 2010. He continued his radio ministry and taught prophecy and Revelation until his death.
He also owned Grace Lane Hobby Shop. where he fostered his love of control line and radio controlled model airplane flight. Many loving students and fellow enthusiasts spent countless hours in the shop and at the flying field sharing their mutual love of the sport. True to his calling, Kenneth ministered to all fellow lovers of flight who came to his door.
Ken will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by all who knew him and who were privileged to be a part of his life. He left a legacy of true commitment to his faith in the Lord and his desire to be a light to those searching.
Funeral services will be Thursday, August 21, at 11:00 a.m. at Joy Baptist Temple with Rev. Mike Beard and Dr. Kenny Hatcher officiating. Interment will be in New Live Oak Cemetery with Selma Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 20, 2014 from 5-7:00 p.m. at Selma Funeral Home.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to Joy Baptist Temple or a favorite charity.
